• The title piece, Saxophone Concerto (movements 1 - 3) is an expansive, lyrical work sub-titled Battle, Death and Resurrection.

• Far Away is a reflective piece played in the 32 bar jazz form, 5/4 metre.

• Miss Julie, originally used in a production of the same name, is Anthony’s response to the capricious character of the wilful Miss Julie.

• Get Carter is his warped, in-your-face tribute to the American composer, Elliott Carter.

Musicians of particular skill were required for the demands of Anthony’s Saxophone Concerto and he was careful to select the cream. Joining the dynamic 24-piece chamber orchestra, sound collective, led by the talented young conductor Tom Hammond, is one of our best saxophonists, Tony Woods, along with the highly regarded Liam Noble (piano) and Richard Pryce (double bass).
